SEND (SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS & DISABILITIES)

Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) is Mrs Amanda Mangham and she can be contacted at nursery on 01282 427154 or by email at amangham@ightenhill-nur.lancs.sch.uk

Our SEND Governor is Mrs Andrea Harvey who can also be contacted via the nursery.

Welcome to our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities page.

At Ightenhill Nursery School we value all children equally and seek to ensure that they can all access the curriculum in order develop and learn at their own pace.

As a parent or carer, you may already be aware that your child has additional needs or this may be something that is raised once your child has started nursery. Whatever the circumstances or needs we will do all that we can to support both you and your child throughout their time in nursery and during their transition to school. We seek to ensure that children with additional needs have their needs met within the nursery setting and do so by working closely with parents and also with other professionals and agencies as appropriate.

Nursery staff are highly experienced in working with children with a variety of additional needs and are always willing to discuss any concerns regarding your child's development. We are also a trauma sensitive nursery and hold the Bronze Attachment and Trauma Sensitive School Award (0-5 years). Staff are also trained in the use of Makaton.

Please do not hesitate to contact our SENCO should you require any further information or wish to discuss any concerns regarding your child's development.
